Heart Health: Don’t Go Breaking My Heart

Valentine's Day infographic designed by UGA Dining to promote heart healthy food choices. Title: Don't go breaking my heart. Heart Healthy Menu Items contain less than 10% of calories from saturated fat, less than 0.5% grams of trans fat, and less than 480 milligrams of sodium. Look for the heart healthy symbol: All heart healthy menu items served will be marked with the symbol of a red circle with a white heart in the middle. Heart healthy food choices include fruit and veggies, low fat dairy, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. When included in a healthy diet, dietary fiber may improve blood cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart diseases. Exercise also counts: The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week. That's only about 22 minute per day, which you can get by skipping the bus and walking to class.
