The results are in from the 2024 March Madness Dining Bracket Contest, and O-House’s O’Hacienda takes the title of Fan-Favorite! This staple station is home to UGA’s most flavorful burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and nachos, with customizable toppings and accommodations for dietary restrictions and allergens.

Now that National Nutrition Month has come to an end, we invite you to experience a world of flavors and visit O’Hacienda to see why it’s the top student-rated station this year!

Building Your O’Hacienda Meal

If you are unsure about what to choose from the endless choices of bases, greens, and toppings, this guide will help inspire you while ensuring you create a meal that is satiating and delicious.

This “Rule of Thumb” is great to remember when building any meal: think about including carbscolor, and protein on your plate to achieve a balance of nourishing and tasty foods.

The carbohydrates provides fuel for your body and brain, a variety of colorful foods provides essential micronutrients like vitamins and minerals, and ample protein will increase the satiety of your meal to give you longer lasting energy. Think about prioritizing ½ your plate for color, ¼ for carbs, and ¼ for protein.

Here are some examples of what you can find at O’Hacienda:

Carb: Tortilla, Taco Shell, Rice

Color: Diced Green Bell Peppers, Fresh Cilantro, Fresh Diced Tomato, Shredded Lettuce, Fresh Lime Wedge, Fresh Minced Jalapenos, Fresh Red Onion, Fresh Spinach, Guacamole, Mild Red Salsa, Black Olives, Salsa Verde, Corn Salsa, Pico de Gallo

Protein Options: Vegan Tacos, Fajita Steak, Chili Lime Tofu, Chicken Fajita Steaks, Beef Taco, Black beans, Pinto beans, and Refried beans

Finally, spice it up with some of your favorite toppings, like sour cream, shredded cheese, or chipotle ranch dressing.

Now combine them! Here are a few meal ideas:

  1. Tofu Rice Bowl:Rice, Black Beans, Chili Lime Tofu, Fresh Diced Tomato, Lime Wedge, Fresh Minced Jalapeños, and Guacamole
  2. Beef Nachos: Tortilla Chips, Ground Beef, Cheese, Corn Salsa, Pico de Gallo, and Pickled Jalapenos
  3. Chicken Fajita Burrito: Tort
