Eating Healthy on the UGA Meal Plan

Whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy are all served in our dining commons, making healthy choices easy. We also help students establish healthy eating habits through nutrition education, private counseling, easy to recognize labeling, and other resources such as our Build Your Plate menu system. Be sure to take advantage of the exceptional nutrition services offered exclusively to meal plan participants.

Dining on the UGA Meal Plan is a great experience that provides you with delicious and nutritious cuisine. Choose from a variety of healthy options daily within each dining commons. Understanding and using our Menu symbols are an excellent way to choose options that fit your lifestyle while on the meal plan.

Nutrition Services are available free of charge to students on the UGA Meal Plan. Meal Plan Participants can discuss personal nutrition goals or concerns with the Registered Dietitian through one-on-one nutrition counseling. Students can also take an eight-session Eating Smart course and learn how to develop a healthy lifestyle through eating right and exercising.

Nutrition Education Stations are located in each dining commons and are supplied with valuable nutrition information for a healthy lifestyle. At these stations you can find nutrition handouts, monthly nutrition displays, healthy recipe cards, and iPads that feature our interactive Build Your Plate app – which provides nutrition and allergy information.
