Food Myths: Busted

Infographic designed by UGA Dining to promote accurate nutrition information. Title: Food Myths: Busted Myth #1: Keto is the best way to lose weight. Answer to myth one: ketogenic diets restrict carbohydrate levels to treat epilepsy. Not only hard to follow, they are dangerous if not planned carefully and adequately supplemented. Balanced diets are a healthier way to lose weight. Myth #2: Gluten is bad for you. Answer: Gluten is a protein in wheat, barley, and rye grains that causes gastrointestinal, neurological and allergic responses in those with celiac disease, wheat allergy, and non celiac gluten sensitivity. Gluten is perfectly healthy for those who don't have these conditions. Myth #3: detoxes are essential for good health. Answer: A balanced diet and proper hydration allows your body to remove toxins naturally. Juicing detoxes lack essential nutrients, like fiber and protein and can leave you feeling weak or dizzy.
