The Peer Nutrition Educators had the opportunity to present Food For Thought: A Night of Health and Wellness to highlight their work throughout the year. The event hosted by the FACS Alumni Chapter in Gainesville on April 16, 2026, brought together alumni and nutrition professionals to highlight the dietetics program at UGA.
Dr. Katherine Ingerson, Associate Director of Nutrition Services for UGA Dining Services and Dr. Emma Laing, dietetics director and professor in nutritional sciences, gave insights into nutrition education opportunities for students at UGA. The Peer Nutrition Educators highlighted their program by discussing their events throughout the year and the impact of their nutrition outreach efforts.
The Peer Nutrition Educators also prepared fresh watermelon salad and guacamole for attendees, offering a hands-on example of simple, nutrient-dense recipes. The evening created a meaningful connection between students, alumni, and professionals, reinforcing the role of nutrition education at the University of Georgia.
