Health & Safety

Two Dining employees with face coverings clean tables and chairs in the dining commons.Safety and sanitation remain our top priority. Here are some of the ways we are maintaining a safe environment:

  • We have converted available food stations to full-service lines
  • We have limited, redistributed, and spaced out furniture throughout dining facilities
  • We provide floor decals to indicate proper social distancing
  • We provide additional outdoor and general seating areas
  • We maintain one-way traffic flows to promote social distancing
  • Sanitation practices include:
    • All areas (dining rooms, bathrooms, etc.) are disinfected nightly with an atomized fogging disinfectant to eliminate bacteria and pathogens including coronavirus (COVID-19)
    • Tables and chairs are cleaned after each use
    • We maintain an increased frequency of cleaning and sanitation of all areas, especially utensils, door handles, tables, and other surfaces
    • Dining staff are required to wear personal protective equipment and follow best practices in food preparation
    • We provide COVID-19 prevention supplies, such as soap, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, paper towels, and trash baskets in common areas, with all actively encouraged to utilize
    • We provide additional hand-washing stations at dining locations

Face coverings are mandatory in all Dining locations

Effective July 15, 2020, the University of Georgia—along with all University System of Georgia (USG) institutions—requires all faculty, staff, students, and visitors to wear an appropriate face covering while inside campus facilities/buildings where six feet social distancing may not always be possible. Face covering use is in addition to and is not a substitute for social distancing. When in a dining location, wear your face covering until you are seated at your table with your food, and remember to replace your face covering before walking through and exiting the building after eating.
