Peer Nutrition Educators
Peer Nutrition Educator
Name: Christine Swearingen Year and major: Senior, dietetics major Hometown: Suwanee, GA Favorite food: guacamole and chips Why I picked my major: I always knew I wanted to work within the medical field in some manner, but I wasn't sure what that would entail. I discovered dietetics when I came to UGA, and since I've always taken interest in nutrition, I found the major and classes required for it to be incredibly captivating. The day I changed my major to dietetics, I knew I was on the right path, and I've grown to love the knowledge and community that it has brought me. Why I wanted to be a PNE: This past spring, I took Nutrition Education with Dr. Cotwright, and her enthusiasm and passion for nutrition education attracted me to the subject. We had the chance to write our own nutrition education for our final project, and it was one of my favorite assignments in college! Several of my friends in the class were PNEs, and as I learned more about what they did, I realized I wanted to be a part of a group on campus with the sole focus of promoting health and wellness.
