Peer Nutrition Educator
Peer Nutrition Educator Year and Major: 4th Year, Dietetics Major; Entrepreneurship Certificate Hometown: Union City, GA Favorite Food: As basic as it is, I LOVE spaghetti...when the right person makes it. Quote: Matthew 10:33 I am very passionate about nutrition education because those suffering due to health disparities are very close to my heart. Child obesity, infant mortality, and even cases such as breast cancer are more likely in minorities and being that there are not as many in the nutrition/dietetics field specifically, I strive to be the absolute best I can be at delivering honest, beneficial and credible information that will help in preventing diseases for all people. Health to me is more than just food. It’s about getting to the root. There could be issues such as depression, abuse, trauma, and insecurity that can be the root of the way someone eats, and understanding patients first will be more effective than simply giving a list of recommendations. I plan to make a dietetic career one that touches lives-- one that is more about serving and giving people hope. Food is definitely a huge part of the healing process. Not only can nutrients can be replenished, but it gives you chance to bond with your friends and family, meet new people, or make an awkward conversation... less awkward. Food is an amazing vessel.
